Late Models Set To Sizzle At Sedan Muster

A huge field of Late Model Sedans are set to turn it on at this weekends Sedan Muster at the Perth Motorplex.

As of last reports, twenty two of Western Australia’s best Late Model sedan pilots have nominated for this dedicated sedan night, a first for the Perth Motorplex, with seven sedan divisions racing on the one program.

The LMRA division has shown just how exciting it is with some of the best racing seen by them at the Motorplex in their opening meetings there so far this season. Winners have been many, but the one name who keeps popping up on a regular basis is Brad Blake.

Blake was at his scintillating best last weekend at Manjimup Speedway where he claimed another state championship. He started off slowly last weekend but true to form, continued to get better as the night wore on and showed just how much ability he has behind the wheel of a sedan, leading all thirty five laps of the final, no matter what pressure he was placed under.

The only drivers who had anything for Blake at that event were Warren Oldfield and Craig Vosbergen.
Oldfield has shown that unless mechanical problems rear their ugly head, that he is just as fast as the multiple state and Australian champ, as too is Brother Jamie, all these two need is some luck. Many pundits believe that time is just around the corner and it could happen this weekend.

Vosbergen bounced back in fine style after a lengthy lay off after his winter American sojourn and had many thinking he would struggle with race fitness, but looked brilliant after thirty five punishing laps of Manjimup. “We have been working pretty hard, loosing nine kilos since I got back from America, working out and that so I knew I would be in pretty good shape.” He will be one to watch in the #12 car run by Doug Drown last season.

Others to impress lately have been Jay Cardy and Kevin Bell. Bell impressed all (and surprised as well) with his pole position and fourth place finish last weekend at Manjimup, and should continue this form if things go his way. Cardy is becoming the ‘Mr Consistent” of the LMRA and if he can find a couple more tenths of speed will worry the top runners of this division.

You can also throw in the likes of Ryan Halliday, Ben and Brad Ludlow, Mark Duncombe,  Jaron Crane, Michael Holmes and of course the oldest sedan racer in W.A. ‘Big Bad’ Bert Vosbergen, who on their night are as good as anyone.

The favourite might be Blake, but any of the guys mentioned above could jump up for the win. If you want to witness some of the best door panel to door panel racing seen in W.A. make sure you head down to the Kwinana Beach complex in what promises to be one of the showcase meetings of the 2009/2010 season this Saturday night.
