LMRA Hot to Trot at the Fireball.

Kalgoorlie is the place to be this Saturday night if its fast and furious sedan action you would be craving as the Late Model Racing Australia competitors hit the Boulder Speedway clay for the fourth running of the Fireball 35.

The Fireball 35 is one of the most anticipated races on the LMRA schedule for not only the drivers but the fans as well. Local radio, television and press advertising has seen an enormous amount of interest from the fans as well. It is that popular there has been two buses leased for the weekend just to get fans from Perth to the goldfields city for the racing this Saturday.

But just who can win this one? It’s going to be tough to call but one racer goes in as the probable favourite.

Bunbury based racer Brad Blake has been in top form with a brilliant run at the opening meeting of the season at the Perth Motorplex. Blake returned from his American campaign with a fire in his belly to succeed that hasn’t been seen for the last couple of years. At the moment he is campaigning the car from last year, but believes the car that will be arriving soon from the USA is better, sounding an ominous warning for everyone else once it gets here.

Close mate Warren Oldfield and Brother Jamie have shown some early form this summer and are certainly not to be discounted. Warren certainly ran down Blake at their last meeting and loves the rivalry that he has with his friend, while Jamie has raced and won in nearly every division he has competed in so the talent is there to trouble the front runners.

Veteran Ben Ludlow is another who will worry the lap scorers as the veteran is probably in the best form of his career. The only thing that might worry Ludlow is the fact he will be keeping a watchful eye on youngest son Ryan who is in his debut season of Late Model Racing on the west coast.

Another who could be up towards the front is the ‘Black Night’ Ryan Halliday. When he sets his mind to it Halliday is one of the best out west and seems to bring his best game to the country rounds.

But who knows there are plenty of others who will be trying to take out the big event.
